Large parts of central and western Europe are seeing a relatively settled Saturday, with high pressure bringing long sunny spells and mild to warm early-autumn temperatures.
Central Europe mostly settled
Switzerland and Austria are largely dry and increasingly sunny after local morning fog or low cloud. Southern Germany is also favoured by warmer and calmer conditions.
Northern Germany wetter and windier
Further north, the weather is less settled. Rain affects parts of northern Germany and the North Sea coast, where strong gusts are expected and storm-force gusts are possible on exposed islands.
Italy divided north to south
Northern Italy remains mostly dry and sunny, while showers and thunderstorms become more widespread across Sardinia, central Italy and the south.
France is mostly sunny and warm, although the Channel coast stays cloudier with some rain and stronger south-westerly winds. Corsica and the southern Alps can also see isolated showers or thunderstorms.
