Europe through Sunday evening: Wind and rain in the north, late warmth farther south

Saturday night into Sunday brings a pronounced north-to-south contrast across western and central Europe. Atlantic low pressure remains influential across the north, while high pressure dominates farther south and west.

Windy and wet across northern Germany

Northern Germany sees periods of rain and increasingly strong west to north-westerly winds on Sunday. DWD expects widespread strong gusts in the north, with storm-force gusts possible on exposed North Sea and Baltic coasts.

Warm and settled around the Alps and France

Austria starts Sunday sunny after local morning fog, with highs around 21 to 27°C before cloud increases from the north later. France remains widely sunny, dry and unusually warm, with 30°C extending into the south-west and Rhône Valley.

Storms linger over southern Italy

Italy improves from the centre northwards and across Sardinia, but showers and isolated thunderstorms remain possible over Sicily, Calabria and the Ionian areas, gradually easing during Sunday evening.
