Europe Monday: Cool and windy in the north, much warmer farther south
Western and central Europe begin Monday with a pronounced temperature divide. Cooler air dominates Germany and Austria, while higher pressure keeps France and much of Italy warmer and drier.
Northern sector
Northern Germany starts around 10 to 15°C and reaches mainly 16 to 18°C. Storm-force gusts remain possible on exposed North Sea and Baltic coasts, with showers in the north and north-east.
Alpine region
Switzerland starts mostly around 8 to 13°C in lowland areas and reaches roughly 18 to 22°C. Austria begins at 7 to 15°C and reaches 15 to 24°C, with residual mountain showers and a brisk north-westerly wind.
France and Italy
France stays widely sunny, ranging from about 22°C in Lille to 31°C in Bordeaux. Much of Italy is more settled, with 24 to 28°C in many lowland regions, while eastern Sicily and Ionian areas remain somewhat cooler and more variable.
