Europe’s warm Saturday core: late-summer heat holds from France to the Alps
Forecast window: Friday evening, 25 September, to Saturday evening, 26 September 2026.
Friday evening: a largely settled centre of Europe
High pressure keeps much of France, Switzerland, Austria and northern Italy dry into the evening. Northern Germany remains cloudier, while the far south of Italy is the main zone with residual instability.
Saturday morning: fog and low cloud locally
Local fog is possible in valleys and lowlands from Switzerland and Austria into parts of Germany. Western France also sees areas of low cloud. These are mostly morning restrictions rather than signs of widespread rain.
Saturday afternoon: a striking late-September warm zone
Southern and central Germany reach roughly 22–26 °C, with around 30 °C possible near the Upper Rhine. France is generally 24–29 °C, locally 30–32 °C from the Lyon area towards Languedoc. Western Austria reaches the mid-20s, while Switzerland sees widespread low-to-mid 20s and locally about 27 °C.
The cooler and wetter exceptions
Northern Germany stays cooler at around 17–21 °C with more cloud and some rain. Southern Italy, especially Calabria, Sicily and Ionian districts, keeps a local shower risk. Elsewhere the broad signal remains dry and unusually warm for the time of year.
