Europe weather Saturday: mild central Europe, heavy rain risk in southern France
Friday night into Saturday is relatively quiet across much of central Europe. Germany sees widespread overnight lows around 7 to 12 °C inland, with fog in many areas, while Austria turns largely clear after local valley fog. Switzerland also remains mostly dry with mild daytime conditions returning on Saturday.
Saturday afternoon temperatures reach roughly 18 to 22 °C across much of Germany, 18 to 25 °C in Austria and around 20 to 23 °C across many Swiss lowland areas. Italy stays warmer under high pressure, with many central and southern areas between 26 and 29 °C.
The main severe-weather focus is southern France. Météo-France has issued an orange rain-flood warning for Hérault, with persistent and at times heavy thundery rain affecting Languedoc-Roussillon and western Provence. Northern France remains much calmer, with Paris near 22 °C on Saturday afternoon.
Farther northwest, the UK pattern is more mixed: the Met Office expects some rain in northern and western Scotland and a few showers in parts of central and southwest England and southeast Wales, while many other areas see dry and bright spells.
