Europe stays under a mixed but not especially extreme weather pattern from Sunday evening into Monday evening. The main contrast is between a more changeable zone stretching across Germany and parts of north-central Europe, and a warmer, brighter pattern over France, the western Mediterranean and much of Italy. The Alpine region remains relatively calm and mild.
By Sunday evening, Germany is still dealing with plenty of cloud and a few showers in places, while France holds onto much warmer and sunnier conditions. Across Switzerland and Austria, the atmosphere is quieter, with mild late-September-style conditions and only regional cloud differences. Over Italy, most areas stay dry, although the far south along the Ionian sector remains the most likely place for isolated instability.
Sunday night: fewer active weather zones
Through Sunday night, the most active frontal influence gradually weakens. This means many areas from the Alps eastward into central Europe see a calmer night, even if low cloud, mist or valley fog can form locally. Temperatures ease back overnight but stay seasonally reasonable in many lowland areas.
Western and southern Europe keep the more stable pattern. That includes much of France, where the air mass remains warm, and large parts of Italy, where skies are often partly clear or only thinly veiled by cloud.
Monday: the split pattern remains in place
On Monday, France continues with warm and often sunny weather, with very warm conditions still likely in the south. Germany improves compared with Sunday, but cloud and sunshine still have to share the sky in many regions. Across the Alps, including Switzerland and Austria, Monday stays mostly dry and pleasantly mild after any early mist or low cloud fades.
Southern Italy remains the area to watch for a stray local shower or thunderstorm, especially compared with the more stable north and centre of the country. Elsewhere, no widespread severe weather signal is evident through Monday evening.
The main take-away
Until Monday evening, Europe’s weather story is mostly one of contrast rather than disruption. Germany remains the most mixed of the six focus areas, France the warmest and sunniest, and the Alpine countries the calmest. This keeps outdoor conditions broadly favourable across much of the continent.
